RECENT PRESS ON KNOTTED ROOT
Home, which Marchio says is unique because it’s made almost entirely with American malts, is a far departure from the experimental styles his Nederland brewery is known for. So much so that it’s released by Circular Beer Co., a newly established sister company to Knotted Root. And since Marchio’s capacity in Nederland is fairly limited, he partnered with Four Noses Brewing Co. to brew and distribute Home, saving himself the cost and risk of adding production space.
Chris Marchio has a plan. The Knotted Root Brewing Company founder wants to see Home, a lager from his new Circular Beer Company, become a regional beer, distributed selectively throughout the country. Before the beer can become a regional power player, however, it has to prove itself on the local level — a challenge that started last month with the inaugural release of Home…
Beginning with New Belgium’s La Folie and extending to the likes of Avery, Funkwerks, Crooked Stave, TRVE Brewing, Casey Brewing & Blending and even Black Project, which coincidentally announced its closure earlier this week, Colorado has had an illustrious lineup of prolific producers which now continue with a new class of rising breweries. One of which, Knotted Root Brewing in Nederland seeks to draw even greater excitement around Farmhouse Ales and Lagers with this weekend’s Welcome – A Farmhouse & Lager Festival…
Westword: Twelve Beers to Look for at Collaboration Fest
Great Divide Brewing and Knotted Root Brewing. These two breweries are stepping out of their comfort zones by teaming up on a style that neither has done before, an unfiltered Japanese-style rice lager. The beer was fermented with a sake yeast blend to lend "peach and rose esters to the aroma and give it an extremely dry finish," the breweries say.
Porch Drinking: Beers For A New Parent
Knotted Root is exactly that brewery for me. Their Hazy IPA game can stand up to anyone in the country and I know their weekly releases are something I can always count on. Holiday In The Everglades is no exception, building on a white wheat base to yield a pillowy soft platform allowing the tropical hop blend to shine. Cozy up with the familiar whenever you have a free moment of not changing diapers…
Westword: Our Thirty Favorite New Colorado Craft Beers from 2021
When it comes to the flavor, aroma and technique of hazy IPAs, there are few breweries in Colorado that push harder or take more risks than New Image Brewing. Among the brewery's best offerings is its Double Double series of double-dry-hopped IPAs. Fellow hazy IPA specialist Knotted Root Brewing also turns out some of this state's most-loved hazies, so when the two breweries teamed up on a mash-up of Double Double and Knotted Root's flagship, Perpetually Unimpressed, you knew it would be good…
AXIOS Denver: The Best Colorado Beer and Breweries in 2021
John's pick: Knotted Root specializes in what I think of as hyperbole beers — over the-top fruited sours and hop-heavy IPAs. They are fun sips from this 2-year-old upstart…
5280 Magazine: The Best Day Trips to Take From Denver This Summer
Though it’s easy to swing by Nederland’s Knotted Root Brewing Company on your way to other excursions, the two-year-old brewhouse is an adventure in its own right, thanks to concoctions such as Goo—an unfiltered, smoothie-style Berliner Weisse made with milk sugar and various fruits. That’s not even the strangest thing Knotted Root makes. Each August, its brewers release the Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese, Salt Pepper Ketchup, a beer meant to evoke the pork roll, New Jersey’s iconic breakfast dish…
Porch Drinking: Knotted Root Celebrates 2nd Anniversary On Top of The World
Nestled in the foothills of Boulder, CO, the tiny town of Nederland is more than 8,000 feet above sea level. The winding road into town is about 16 miles of pure straight up, twisting through the mountains, running parallel to a roaring creek, making you feel closer to the sky than the ground. It’s fitting, then, that Knotted Root Brewing Company has made its home here. At its second-year anniversary party (which occurred this past Fourth of July weekend), it was tough to imagine any other brewery feeling more on top of the world…
Corn Beef Hash IPA? Knotted Root Explains Its Food-Inspired Cans
Let's get this out of the way first: There is no corned beef in Knotted Root Brewing's Corn Beef Hash. Nor is there any oil, potato, salt, pepper or egg. Rather, Corn Beef Hash is a hazy New England-style IPA brewed and double-dry-hopped with El Dorado, Idaho Gem and Mosaic hops. And that's as savory as it gets.
So why name your beers after foods? And why follow suit with the label art…
The Best Colorado Beers and Breweries in 2020 and What to Watch in 2021
Knotted Root arrived on the scene in July 2019 and made a distinct impression in its first year. The brewery’s collection of hazy IPAs showcased big flavors from a variety of top-notch hops and the tart and fruit-forward sours landed perfectly on trend.
The Nederland brewers received a handful of survey votes for top brewery, and Untappd ratings put them at No. 4 in 2020…
